On Friday, October 31st, the RE-ASSIGN project team gathered at the Centre Terre et Pierre (CTP) in Tournai for a day filled with insightful discussions, constructive exchanges, and a shared ambition: advancing the circularity of plastics.
This cross-border workshop brought together experts, industry representatives, and institutional stakeholders committed to driving the transition toward a more circular economy within the Interreg France–Wallonie–Vlaanderen area.
A Shared Mission: Making Plastics More Circular
The RE-ASSIGN project supports companies across the Interreg region in integrating recycled plastics into their products.
This workshop provided an opportunity to present the project’s initial results and explore new avenues for collaboration to further accelerate the transition.
A Rich and Inspiring Programme
The team presented the latest progress on sampling methodologies and analytical approaches for circular plastic materials, illustrated by an industrial case study on silicone tube recycling, with contributions from:
Jean-Michel Clanet (CTP), Wim Grymonprez (Centexbel-VKC), and Adrian Boborodea (Certech).
Several guest speakers also shared their expertise and practical experience, including:
Arnaud Parenty (Lavoisier Circular Transition), Rosina Giordano (PLASTIWIN), Rim Bitar (CircoPlast), A. Saeys (Elast2Sustain), and L. Buissière (R-EU-CYCLE).
These contributions fed dynamic discussions and helped stimulate new synergies between the various INTERREG France–Wallonie–Vlaanderen projects.
A Closer Look Inside CTP
The day concluded with a guided tour, offering participants the opportunity to discover the facilities and explore the ongoing work on material recovery and recycling-related innovations.
